Recreation Camp Director Mike Drew recently dropped by United Way's office in Shelton with a surprise thank you, picture and t-shirt for United Way. Earlier this year, Valley United Way made special supplemental allocations to its agencies including the Recreation Camp. As you can see from the picture above and the many smiling faces, the Recreation Camp put the funds to use by constructing a special play area adjacent to their building which is located on beautiful Lake Housatonic in Derby.

The "Rec" has been servicing the youth of the Valley since 1917 with a variety of safe aquatic activities including lessons in swimming , canoeing sailing and kayaking. Under Mike's direction, the Camps has expanded its programs to include many educational offerings as well. The Camp can always use additional facilities for non-aquatic activities, and they seized the opportunity to add the new play area that you see here.

We congratulate the Rec for its nearly 90 years of safe aquatic programming in the Valley and wish it the best with its new equipment.
