Though some of the team members changed, the final result was the same as Griffin Hospital won the Corporate Cup Volleyball tournament for the second straight year - but not without a real challenge from runner-up Perkin Elmer. Griffin was actually the second seeded team in the tournament following completion of the Round Robin qualifying part of the tournament, but proceeded to storm back in bracket play to defeat Perkin Elmer by scores of 15-11 and 15-13 in the best of three final.

Surprising IDA International which was winless in the qualifying round came back to capture third place overall by topping fourth place finisher Birmingham Group Health Services 15-9. IDA had advanced by beating fifth place finisher Tele-Media Cable 15-12 before losing to Perkin Elmer 15-4 in the semi-finals. Birmingham Group had dropped a 15-8 semi-final game to Griffin Hospital.

In the earlier qualifying round, Perkin Elmer had a perfect 4-0 record including a tight 15-12 win over Griffin in the final game of the round. Griffin ended up 3-1 in qualifying play while Birmingham Group was 2-2. Tele-Media finished at 1-3 while IDA was 0-4.
