Boys & Girls Club - Jack Ribas Executive Director

The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley serves Valley children age 6-18 at our four locations-Shelton, Derby, Ansonia, and Milford. We provide safe after school care with a primary focus on children from disadvantaged circumstances. With 10 full-time, 44 part-time and over 130 volunteers our staff dedicates themselves to serving the youth in our community. The Boys & Girls Club promotes the social, educational, health, leadership, and character development through a safe place to learn and grow, caring professional adult staff, life enhancing programs, and opportunity.

With the funding from the Valley United Way the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley is able to provide homework assistance, computer classes, physical fitness, science, ceramics, cooking, health and nutrition and much more to all children who attend.

We serve the community best between the hours of 3 and 8 pm each day when over 700 children come through our doors for a safe environment. We also provide two fantastic opportunities. Our Bridges Program, a community advocacy program, helps the community anywhere from alcohol education to motivating students to do homework. We also provide a Science Program where kids from the Valley were taken with Dr. Robert Ballard to the Adriatic Sea in Greece for an expedition. We change lives by instilling a sense of self-worth and positive values that enable thousands of boys and girls to realize their dreams that may have otherwise passed them by.
