The New Haven Legal Assistance Association provides free legal advice, representation, community education, and policy advocacy for low-income, elderly, or disabled residents of both Greater New Haven and Lower Naugatuck Valley areas. We focus on those without access to resources to resolve legal problems through district representation, advice, advocacy, and impact litigation.

Thanks to the generous grant from the Valley United Way we are able to support legal services for clients in the Valley and most recently were able to re-open our office in Derby which had closed in 1997 due to lack of funding.

Our agency makes a difference in the Valley community by community outreach through presentations and workshops on legal rights in areas such as family, housing, consumers, and immigration. New Haven Legal has established excellent and long-standing relationships with other community agencies such as TEAM Inc. and Birmingham Group Health Services. The New Haven Legal Assistance Association empowers Valley clients by representing them in court and helping them achieve economic self-sufficiency though legal advocacy.
