Our services are designed to help survivors of domestic violence improve the quality of their lives while increasing their awareness about the impact domestic violence has on their families. Umbrella’s supportive services include a 24/7 crisis hotline, walk-in crisis center, anonymous shelter (Antoinette’s House) for women and children, children’s activity programs, court based program, community outreach and education. We also provide a special program implemented to serve senior victims of domestic violence. Our goal is to provide supportive services that empower people to make positive and productive changes and choices in their lives so they may free themselves from violence. The Valley United Way funds support Umbrella’s walk in crisis center so adults and children can be offered services that are free of charge in an environment that is readily available. From there clients are provided with options, safety planning, counseling and support groups with complete confidentiality. Umbrella makes a difference in the community by giving adults and children a safe place to go when they are feeling most vulnerable. They can talk with someone who will keep their stories confidential, they are never judged, and always supported and assured that domestic violence is a crime that they are not responsible for. 95% of the time, sheltered residents and their children begin their new lives after living in Antoinette’s House. One client shared with us her experience. "The counselor and the women rallied around me and assured me that no form of abuse is okay and made me feel that I did belong. I did deserve to be loved, I did deserve to be treated with respect and that NO ONE had the right to treat me otherwise." Here at Umbrella we are proud to say that we are truly breaking the cycle of violence. |
