We build strong kids, strong families, strong communities. The Valley YMCA provides opportunities for members of our community to both improve and enhance many facets of their lives. Supporting programs in health and wellness, childcare, and housing, the YMCA is a place to help the community grow and provide its members with a sense of belonging. With a fitness center, gym, fitness classes, youth and adult sports and swimming, the YMCA is a leader in health and wellness. We also provide swimming lessons for children and adults alike, providing them with a lifetime of safety, recreation, and fun. The YMCA offers childcare to working families through before and after school programs, Creative Play Preschool, vacation fun days, and the Summer Fun Club Camp. We also provide Single Resident Occupancy housing for 29 gentlemen. With 55 employees full and part time, we work hard to create an atmosphere where families can spend needed time together, where the elderly can enjoy spending time with youth, and where anyone is welcome to socialize and feel that they belong to something special.
None of this would be made possible without funding from the Valley United Way. VUW helps enhance our programs and services offered at the YMCA. At the Valley YMCA no one is turned away because of inability to pay. Financial assistance toward membership, childcare, programs, and summer camp is provided, as well as providing the residence with basic necessities from toothpaste to warm blankets. The YMCA is also in collaboration with other agencies such as the Spooner House and Birmingham Group, providing their clients with opportunities supported by the YMCA.
The YMCA makes a great difference in our community by ensuring that everyone is always welcome. We help people enrich themselves physically, spiritually, and mentally, while giving parents peace of mind that their children are safe while they are at work and providing gentlemen a place to live who may otherwise be homeless. That is how the Valley YMCA LIVES UNITED.
