On Monday December 14th you might have seen some rather large buses (Land Jet) on our Valley roads stopping at several agencies dropping as they dropped off  people with “Energizer Personal Cares” tee shirts...150 Energizer employees participated in their first ever Energizer Afternoon of Caring.

The Executive and Senior staff met at the Waterview in Monroe where they boarded their buses. They were to arrive at their volunteer site in a matter of 20 minutes. At the end of the three hours they would be picked up and brought back to the Waterview and continue on with their holiday party. It would be a chance for them to talk about their day and fun experiences and share endless stories of what they did and the difference they know they made at their agency.

Brenda Hazell, a member of the Energizer Culture Team reached out to Valley United Way seeking help with setting up the “first” Energizer Afternoon of Caring.  The Energizer Culture Team, still relatively new, is a group of Energizer colleagues who work in both Milford and Shelton to create the Energizer Culture. One of the things they wanted to do was a project that would include a community service aspect. Brenda called upon Valley United Way’s Volunteer Center to ask for help in coordinating this enormous project. The VAC reached out to the Valley Non Profits and the project was underway. All Energizer had to do was to bring their excitement and enthusiasm for volunteering to the e site.

150 executive and senior staff recognized how fortunate they were so this opportunity to give back was great for them.

150 Energizer Volunteers made a difference at the following agencies:

·         Boys and Girls Club -Shelton...they painted the basement floors, cubbies, railings, hallways and nice designs.

·         My Sister’s Place – Painted the store walls. The store closed for the afternoon to streamline this enormous project.

·         Valley YMCA  – Painted the Nordstrom room that was in need to help use in other ways

·         TEAM –Headstart – Painted classrooms and created stencils with so many positive smiles and messages

·         TEAM – Toys for Tots- Helped organized the Toy Store.

·         ACT – Spooner House- Helped sort and stock food and pack holiday food baskets

·

SalSalvation Army – Packed food and sorted clothing and toys for the holidays

The Volunteers were so happy to be a part of this project. You could hear music playing and people singing and see paint brushes rolling the walls and walls.

According to David Hatfield, Energizer CEO, the mission of Energizer is to satisfy the needs of consumer’s customers and the community we live in and this project is dead on to what we commit to. We are pleased to help particularly in this holiday season” David continued, “Giving back is a major goal”.  David thanked Valley United Way for helping them help the Valley community.  David painted at My Sister’s Place.

Energizer – EPC- accomplished their goal...they made all the difference!
