Sikorsky Takes the Heat for the
Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley

After months of planning, Corporate Volunteer Council member, Sikorsky
Financial visited the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley
yesterday to help out and play with the kids as part of United Way’s Day
of Action. The Day of Action is a date set by United Way to
encourage people to give back to their community in any way they can. Every
day should be a Day of Action because there is never a lack of need
in the world.
Despite the heat, many of the Sikorsky volunteers
still decided to work outside fixing up the volleyball courts and the
putting green, as well as weeding the play area. The plan had originally
been to help set up the new swing set the Boys & Girls Club had received but
with the extreme temperatures it was decided that they would come back and
take on the 8 hour project with Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club,
Jack Ribas another time.
Some of the other volunteers stayed inside and played
dodge ball and basketball with the kids. They also helped the children make
puzzle pieces that reflect their personalities, while making pieces of their
own as well. These puzzle pieces were put together at the end of the day,
symbolizing that though we are all unique, we can come together and Live
United.
