On Thursday, Oct. 8,
the volunteers who made the Week of Caring a success got a chance to return to the scene
of their hard work to see just how successful their efforts were. The Y held an open house
with a special dinner provided through the generosity of David Grant Catering. Tele-Media
of Western Connecticut provided a door prize of a free year of cable service as part of
the evening's festivities.
Sue Reilly of the Y lauded the efforts
of the volunteers for helping to make the apartments more livable for all the residents.
She announced that the monetary value of the project was over $30,000 but said that the
value to the Y extended way beyond the dollars to include the incredible community spirit
and caring demonstrated by all the volunteers.
Pat Tarasovic, Director of the Volunteer Action Center and Denise Rawles Smith, one of
the chairs of the Corporate Volunteer Council, also spoke and thanked everyone for their
efforts.
