![]() Volunteer of the Year Award Nominations Being AcceptedValley United Way's Volunteer Action Center will sponsor its Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony at the Kellogg Environmental Center in Derby on May 1, and you are invited to use this on-line form to make a nomination, or print out a hard copy and fax or mail it to United Way. Nominations are requested by agencies and local community groups to honor both individual and group volunteers that have given their time and attention to benefit others and initiated advancement in the Valley’s physical, intellectual, cultural or moral condition. A special award includes the annual Sharon Bryce Holly Award that is given to an individual in the Valley who exemplifies a sense of community responsibility, social awareness and embodies the United Way’s vision of a caring community. In addition a Corporate and Community Excellence Award is given to an individual from a Corporation in the Valley that has provided a sense of commitment to the community, social awareness and also embodies United Way’s vision of a caring community. A requirement for all candidates is that they must have performed their volunteer services in the Valley Communities of Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour and Shelton.
