Joseph Pagliaro, Sr. Valley United Way President Tom Sutnik has announced that Joseph Pagliaro, Sr., President and CEO of the Riverview and Adzima Funeral Homes has been named as Chair of the 1999-2000 Valley United Way Annual Fund Raising Campaign. He said, " We are excited to have Joe Pagliaro step forward to serve as Chair of this year's effort. His knowledge of the community and his dedication to many worthwhile causes make him the ideal candidate for the task." The Annual Fund Raising Campaign raises funds to support a wide variety of services offered by twenty-four agencies providing valuable services to Valley residents and is the largest fund raising effort in the community for the support of health and human services. Pagliaro noted that, "As a life-long resident of the community, I have a strong commitment to the people of the Valley, and I can't think of a better or easier way to support the community than through the annual United Way campaign." Joe is no stranger to civic involvement as he has long been active with United Way and many other Valley groups. He is Chairman and Past President of the Lower Naugatuck Valley Boys & Girls Club, a member of the Griffin Hospital Board of Trustees, Vice Chairman of the board of Directors of United Methodist Homes of Connecticut, and member of the Executive Committee for the Shelton Economic Development Corporation. Joe has also been involved with the Birmingham Group, the Michael Bourque Memorial Fund for Children, the Parent Child resource Center, and the New Haven Symphony. He is also active with St. Lawrence parish having served as President of the Parish Council and now as a Lector. He is also active in city government currently serving as the Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Commission in Shelton. He also makes time to serve as a mentor in the Shelton school system something he has done since the program's inception. Joe has been a recipient of the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce's Gold Seal Award, and was also was named the first Honorary Citizen Award winner by the Shelton Intermediate School. In his professional career, Joe has been a member and Past President of the New Haven Funeral Director Association, member and Past Secretary of the Connecticut Funeral Director Association and a member of the National Funeral Director Association. Joe resides in Shelton and is the proud father of children Joseph, Jr. and Dr. Michelle Pagliaro-Haywood. Valley United Way wishes to thank the
