A behind-the-scenes look at a taping session at Tele-Media for United Way's award-winning campaign video.

United Way of America

2000 Communications Contest

Campaign Films and Videos: Pro Bono  Production - 3rd

Tele-Media Cable Company's video for the 1999 - 2000 campaign was a winner not only locally, but also nationally as United Way of America awarded it a third place in the Campaign Films and Videos: Pro Bono Production category. Liz Kennard and her staff put in a lot of hard at work in assembling the pieces for the video which is used to tell the story of United Way and its partner agencies. Titled "Investing in a Caring Community", it included stories about community services interspersed with comments from a variety of United Way donors on the reasons that they invest in Valley United Way. It focused on United Way as the "mutual fund" for community investment.

The Tele-Media production included footage shot in the community for three segments about services offered in the Valley. They incorporated the story of the enhanced information and referral services offered by Infoline as part of their new 211 service, the new Boys and Girls Club, and a story showing how the Parent Child Resource Center and New Haven Legal Services have worked together to keep a family together.

The distinguished cast for the video.

United Way Executive Director Jack Walsh praised Tele-Media for the video and for the hard work of Liz Kennard, who produced the video, and her entire staff. "In a study we did a few years ago, people in the community told us that our videos are our most effective communications tool for telling the United Way story. This national recognition reinforces our pride in the work that Tele-Media does for us every year".

The official unveiling of the video took place at United Way's Campaign Kickoff. If you would like to show the video to a group, please call the United Way office directly (926-9478).
