Valley United Way has announced that Mike Marcinek Senior Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Fletcher Thompson in Shelton will chair the annual Community Fund Raising Campaign for 2007-2008. In making the announcement, Ruth Parkins, Chair of the Board of Directors, said that, “Mike's dedication to the Valley United Way and its mission is a tremendous asset to the organization. His leadership of the campaign cabinet over the past few years has been a major strength behind the success in meeting goal and his renewed commitment will provide the level of energy and continuity that is essential for continued growth.”
Mike has been heading the campaign since 2004 - an unprecedented four straight years. In accepting the challenge, Marcinek noted that he was doing so to lend continuity to the campaign, as a new group of campaign leaders develops the experience to undertake leadership roles.
"We couldn't be more pleased that Mike, with his proven track record of leadership and success, has agreed to chair the new campaign,” said Jack Walsh, Valley United Way president and C.O.O. “This is going to ensure another very successful campaign."
A native of Seymour, Marcinek has a keen understanding of the importance of giving back to the community and has spent hundreds of hours volunteering his time. He is the Vice Chair of United Way’s Board of Directors and a member and past chair the Valley United Way’s finance committee. He is a board member for Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut County, The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Shelton Economic Development Corporation, and The Dan Orlovsky Foundation.
Since its founding in 1910, Fletcher Thompson has instilled in their employees the importance of being part of the community. Each year employees donate hundreds of hours to assist and lead area non-profit organizations.
