Valley United Way values the contributions made by all its supporters, but also recognizes those individuals who commit themselves to providing substantial support to the Valley United Way through its leadership giving program - The Commodore Isaac Hull Society. Commodore Hull was a native of the Valley; having lived in both Derby and Shelton. Hull won enduring fame as the commander of the battleship U.S.S. Constitution, nicknamed "Old Ironsides", during the War of 1812.

Commodore Isaac Hull Society members are an association of dreamers -- dreamers who believe that "impossible" simply means that it hasn’t yet been done. It is an association of leaders -- those who have the courage and independence to place themselves in the vanguard of caring. It is an association of the discontented -- discontent that thousands of citizens in our communities are battling drug and alcohol abuse, discontent that hundreds of women and children are victims of abuse. It is an association for those who dare to challenge the status quo.

Members are caring and sharing people who lead by example in the community by ensuring that needed human and social services continue to be made available to all of the citizens of the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

You are cordially invited to join the current Members of the Commodore Isaac Hull Society, thus setting an example for all to recognize and emulate.

Donors of $1,000 to $2,499 will become members of the Captain’s Circle.

Donors of $2,500 to $4,999 will become members of the Commodore’s Circle.

Donors of $5,000 to $9,999 will become members of the Admiral’s Circle.
