People’s Bank had their biggest day ever in the Community Corporate Cup as Anthony and Danyy Pierro came out firing in the Hoops event and never let up as they posted the top score in five straight rounds to walk away with the title in a 24 team field. Runners-up CDWG Drain-O did drain a lot of shots, but not quite enough to keep up with the sharp shooting Pierros.

BIC’s Christian Keator and Jeff Manning  and Griffin Hospital’s Chris Collins and Ian Rabbit started slowly in the opening round, but came on to finish third and fourth respectively. CDWG’s Tim Smith and Chris Lipford finished fifth.

After an absence of 17 years, basketball came back to the Community Corporate Cup as a shooting contest in 2015.

Each member will have 1 minute to make as many shots as possible from designated spots on the court. Each spot will be worth a given number of points, and the shooter can decide what mixture of shots to take. The other team member will serve as rebounder and passer. At the end of each round, teams will be knocked out of the competition until only two are left to decide the winner. Final standings will be determined by the round that a team is knocked out and the total points earned in that round.
