United Illuminating Wins Again!

United Illuminating regained the Volleyball title that they lost a year ago by sweeping through the championship round undefeated. UI topped a determined Perkin Elmer "A" team in two straight games in the finals after drawing the number one seed during the round robin qualifying. They reached the final with a convincing win over the Perking Elmer "B" team. Perkin Elmer "A" reached the final by defeating #2 seed CDW-G 15-11 in the semi-final match. UI beat Perkin Elmer "A" 15-10 in the first game in the finals and then by a score of 15-13 in the final game. Perkin Elmer had rallied to within one point at 14-13, but a strategic time out righted the ship and Bruce Preston scored the winning point for UI.

Perkin Elmer's "B" team topped CDW-G by a 15-12 score to finish third, and TEAM, Inc. finished fifth.

Though UI went undefeated in the championship bracket, no one was undefeated in round robin play. CDW-G pinned a 15-13 loss on UI as UI, CDW-G and Perkin Elmer all posted 3-1 records. However, UI got the top seed after having given up the fewest points in the round robin.
