Corporate Cup 2010 - Bocce

Kevin Dunn and Nora Espinel are all smiles after winning the bocce tournament.

Winning form!

It may have taken a couple of weeks, but Kevin Dunn and Nora Espinel have given BIC an incredible Corporate Cup victory in the Bocce tournament as they came out of the Losers Bracket on Saturday to win the darkness delayed title with three straight wins. The tournament had been halted by darkness on May 25 with four teams still in the running heading by an undefeated Spectrum Plastics Team along with BIC and two Perkin Elmer teams. The PerkinElmer teams settled their friendly rivalry with their Red Team topping the Blue team setting the stage for the final games.

Perkin Elmer's Rick Cusano and Bob VanEgghen jumped off to an early lead only to see BIC's Dunn and Espinel set the tone of the day with a comeback 11-9 win including all four points in one round. Mike Figueroa and Matt McKenney looked like they were on their way to the championship when they jumped out to a 6-2 lead over BIC, but Dunn and Espinel stormed back again for an 11-7 win setting the stage for the "if" game. In the championship game, BIC pulled away for a convincing 11-6 win and the title!

Earlier story:

The first Community Corporate Cup ran out of daylight, but not enthusiasm as 28 teams set out in pursuit of the first ever title on a beautiful night along the Shelton Riverwalk. Playing under ideal weather conditions, the field dwindled to the final four before being halted by darkness. Details will be announced soon about a date to finish the event, but Spectrum Plastics is the only remaining undefeated team following their winners bracket final victory over BIC's Simply Soleil team. Mike Figueroa and Matt McKenney can win it all with one more win. BIC's Nora Espinel and Kevin Dunn are now in the losers bracket finale where they await one of PerkinElmer's two strongest entries - Rick Cusano and Bob VanEgghen's Blue team or the Red team of Frank Cusello and Ricky Ponce de Leon.
