United Illuminating's dynasty in the Community Corporate Cup Volleyball Tournament as UI's #1 team swept through both the round robin seeding and the championship bracket play for the third straight year. Though Griffin Hospital's "A" and Aces teams advanced to the championship bracket as the one and two seeds, it was United Illuminating #1 and United Illuminating #2 that played in the championship game , and the #1 moniker proved to be correct as they swept two games in the best of three title series. The two Griffin teams did advance to the semifinals before bowing to the two UI teams. Griffin "A' then proceeded to topple the Aces for the third place designation in the tournament. Birmingham Group #1 which was eliminated from championship play by UI #1 came back to take fifth place one spot ahead of another Griffin team - the "Scrubs". The tournament was held at the Shelton Intermediate School.
