For the fourth straight year, United Illuminating has spiked
the competition in the Corporate Cup Volleyball tournament. They went undefeated
in round-robin play to earn a bye in the single-elimination championship round
and then proceeded to defeat Rifkin Travel, the Birmingham Group and Griffin
Hospital #1 making it look easy along the way.
Griffin #1 had also gone undefeated in round robin play and
had toppled Spectrum Plastics #1, and Griffin Hospital #3 to reach the
championship series where U.I. proceeded to win two straight games for the
title.
The Birmingham Group finished third as they toppled Griffin
Hospital #3 in the consolation game.
