United Illuminating Cops Title

United Illuminating swept through both Pool and bracket play in undefeated fashion on their way to the 1998 First Union Bank Volleyball championship. In doing so, United Illuminating regained control of the title it last won in 1996 from defending champions Pitney Bowes. United Illuminating captured first place in Pool Three and a bye in the bracket play. They then proceeded to beat Prudential Resources 11-5 and Pitney Bowes I 15-3 to reach the finals where they demolished Pitney Bowes II in a best-of-three final by scores of 15-5 and 15-1.
