TEAM At The Top

Proving that persistence pays off, TEAM, Inc. has won the 1999 Griffin Hospital Community Corporate Cup. Though they did not win any of the individual events, TEAM took the title because of their participation and overall excellence in all events to post a leading score of 92.50 points which was 8.75 points better than defending co-champ Birmingham Group which finished second. United Illuminating used its strong overall participation to finish third with 83.5 points. The W. E. Bassett Company which led for much of the competition finished in fourth as the other defending co-champ, Griffin Hospital finished fifth with 73.25 points.
Rounding out the top ten were United Methodist Homes (71.75), Rifkin Travelers (69.75), Fluidyne (67), Gordon Rubber (66.25) and David Grant Caterers (66.25).
The closeness of the competition was evident in the fact that no one team was able to win more than one individual title. The individual event winners were:
- Bowling - Bassett Trim
- Darts - Rifkin Travelers
- Billiards - Pitney Bowes Credit Corp.
- Volleyball - United Illuminating
- Horseshoes - Rubber Supplies
- Mini-Golf - LexiBridge
- Healthy Team - Birmingham Group
Though TEAM did not win a single event, they did finish second in both Darts and Horseshoes. They were one of just three teams that competed in every event. The others were the Birmingham Group and United Illuminating. They were also the recipient of bonus points for the participation of their Executive Director, Richard Knoll.
