For decades, the United Way, through its volunteers and agencies has been here to help our neighbors in need. Your generosity during our annual campaigns has made it possible for the United Way to fund health and human service programs that touch tens of thousands in our community.
But annual gifts alone cannot fund the future. As the human needs of our community change and grow the United Way annual campaign may be hard pressed to keep pace with emerging needs. It is for this reason - to be prepared for the challenges of the future - that the Heritage Fund has been created.
The Heritage Fund, United Way's permanent endowment, is a special fund separate from our annual campaign. It is our promise to the community that we will always be here to help those in need. And it is your opportunity to touch the future by making a gift that will always be recognized and remembered for its enduring benefits to our community.
You can trust the Heritage Fund to reach those in need. When you contribute to the Heritage Fund you can trust that your gift will be put to good use, today and for years to come. Endowed gifts will enable the United Way to do such things as fund new programs, meet unexpected crises and preserve services that benefit our neighbors, now and in the future.
The principal of your gift will remain intact in perpetuity and the unrestricted income will be distributed to local health and human service agencies by knowledgeable United Way volunteers, who will also monitor the use of these funds.
A special feature of the Heritage Fund gives donors the option of directing an endowed gift to the United Way or using the The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to make their gift. For sixty-five years, the Community Foundation has served donors who wish to perpetuate their charitable giving. The Foundation provides economical, professional and local stewardship of charitable endowed funds.
