The work is complete, and the Head Start building and grounds in Ansonia have emerged from the thick brush that grew like crazy during our cool and rainy summer. Swarms of volunteers cut and trimmed the brush back and then moved on to paint the fences and decks around the building and playground.  They then moved inside and gave the gym a fresh coat of paint. All in all, it was a busy and fun week that resulted in many new friendships and a refurbished Head Start facility just in time for the start of the new school year. Click through our photo albums to see some of the people who made it happen.

Our volunteers were well fed, equipped and clothed thanks to our generous sponsors. Webster Bank provided t-shirts for all participants while donations from Prudential Resources, Iroquois Gas Transmission, Shady Knoll Health Center and Griffin Hospital  helped cover most of the cost of materials. In addition, food kept our volunteers going throughout the week as nightly meals were provided by Rapp's Paradise Inn, Charlie & Leon's, Domino's, Subway and Big Y.

We want to thank everyone who participated including employees of the following groups:

  • American Skandia

  • City of Ansonia

  • CAPS, Inc

  • Execustay by Marriott
