Camp Jewell Weekend

Valley united Way’s Youth Leadership members, twenty-two high school students from Ansonia, Derby, Emmett O’Brien, Fairfield Prep, Notre Dame – Fairfield, Norte Dame – West Haven, Seymour, Shelton and St. Joseph’s High School, attended the Annual Camp Jewell Teambuilding Retreat the weekend of April 27^th.

Camp Jewell, a YMCA Outdoor Center in Colebrook, Connecticut is a dynamic hands on learning experience that emphasizes learning in several major areas: trust, team building, leadership, problem solving, and communication. Experienced instructors are skilled in drawing analogies between each activity and the work the Youth Leadership members will be doing throughout the year.

During the weekend the group held their first meeting at which they elected officers and decided that they would meet regularly on the second Tuesday of each month from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Valley United Way offices in Ansonia.
