A Special Grandparents Day

Shelton Senior Center Grandparents Day was a huge success! Youth Leadership Program members provided some valuable assistance.

Youth Leadership members helped to bridge the intergenerational gap with enthusiasm and encouragement.

Grandparents Day was held on July 21, 1998 at the Shelton Senior Center from 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. Ellen Shaw, Center Director, came up with the idea last year. Ellen said " I thought it would be a nice idea for grandparents to have fun with their grandchildren. It was very successful last year so we wanted to make it an annual event."

This was the first year the Valley United Way’s Youth Leadership group was invited to help plan and work at the special event. Along with helping to plan and create many of the games they also helped with face painting, ring toss, bean bags, musical chairs and the famous twister. They also assisted the famous "Cupcake" the clown as she lead the kids in fun dance and music animations. The Youth Leadership kids had lots of fun serving lunch to the little kids and their Grand- parents.

It was a fun day for all!
